After leaving the Antarctic, a load of us from BAS and a couple of girlfriends and sisters headed off for a trip around South America. The largest town that most of us had seen was Stanley, with a population of 2,000, and we didn't really speak any Spanish, but after two years down south we were free and wanted to make the most of it.
